User Experience Manager (UEM): $90-120k


This person will lead the User Experience team, including Information Architects, Content Strategists and User Researchers, and work collaboratively with Creative, Technology and Strategy to create compelling, insight-driven web sites and applications. This is one of the most crucial project roles as it requires an ability both to lead the project team and the client through a user-centered design process to develop meaningful experience concepts, and to execute on those concepts. The UEM will manage a four person team as well as work on various project in a User Experience Designer (UED) capacity



Responsible for defining solutions that meet clients’ business goals and target audience needs, this person will focus on end user research, content organization and classification (information architecture), user interface & interaction design and optimizing usability. Other responsibilities for client projects include:

Taking a leadership role in developing the information architecture and content strategy of transactional, informational, and marketing websites
Understanding target audiences' needs, tasks, and goals and translating them into creative concepts
Working closely with clients to define target audience needs and motivational factors, and translate business requirements into compelling interactions and meaningful interactive experiences
Leading and/or participating in immersive user research, concept testing, card sorting and usability testing
Developing user personas and scenarios to clarify results of user research and focus the team’s design efforts on the needs of key users
Collaboratively developing prototypes for demonstration of concepts to clients
Developing and documenting detailed user experience specifications for highly interactive interfaces
Driving User Experience thought leadership in both the company and the industry
Leverage client documentation and lead key-stakeholder working sessions to understand a projects’ functional requirements and document them
Create user profiles, personas, process flows, site maps, and wireframes to precisely detail users’ experience and interaction specifications through an application and/or web site
Categorize/organize dense levels of content that promotes good information architecture for a web site or web application (scalable and searchable, and implementable within a CMS)
Provide subject matter expertise for best practices in information architecture, interaction design, and usability
In addition to project work, the User Experience Designer has internal responsibilities, which include:
Participate in scoping new work, creating realistic UX estimates, and possibly participate in client pitch presentations

Qualifications:

5-7+ years experience as Information Architect, User Interface Designer (UID), Interaction Designer or User Experience Designer developing interactive products/solutions
3+ years experience as a UED at the Manager level
· Rock solid portfolio containing sample Site Maps, Wireframes, Usability Testing, User Research Plans, Schematics, PowerPoint Presentations, Visio Diagrams, etc.
· Proven ability to lead user-centered design initiatives from inception through implementation
· Ability to collaborate with designers, strategists, managers, and technologists
· Ability to communicate design rationale to internal team as well as clients
· Ability to address user needs in the context of business goals, branding, and
· requirements
· Extensive experience in information design and user scenarios
Degree in a related field, such as human-computer interaction, library science, graphic design, industrial design, or equivalent experience.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
Experience in client services and formalized client requirements gathering experience
Experience observing user research and translating user research into design decisions
Strong human factors and usability analysis skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Visio
Experience with CMS implementations is a plus
Experience integrating media (i.e., video) into rich web interfaces is a plus
