Senior Manager, Business Intelligence - Boston


The Business Intelligence Senior Manager will lead the service providing strategic dashboards, reports, and information to the commercial team to drive informed decision making.  The Manager will assist in identifying the key needs within the organization for business intelligence and ensure that the most effective processes tools are available to meet those needs.  The Manager will become a trusted and reliable partner for all colleagues, able to provide market insight and intelligence to support key business objectives and decisions.  This person will execute the necessary strategic analyses / projects / mapping / research needed to guide the future plans of the company.


§ Apply structured problem solving approach to key business questions and work to integrate results from across analytical and market research disciplines.
§ Develop the long term business intelligence strategy and identify the appropriate supporting solution set to enable it the strategy, including a multi-phase roadmap for implementation.
§ Implement the business intelligence plan that supports key long-term strategic needs and obtain all resources necessary for their execution.
§ Lead the Business Intelligence Organization in a manner that ensures the appropriate support organization, processes and documentation exist to support the business intelligence solution sets, enabling ensure optimal value and contribution and “best in class” of the organization.
§ Assist in management of the budget for the Business Intelligence organization.
§ Ensure the right processes and tools are in place and are maintained to deliver accurate dashboards, reports and ad-hoc analysis.
§ Partner management of multiple contract resources who will be the primary members of the Business Intelligence organization.
§ Be an active partner in the planning and development of brand plans, launch plans, strategic projects, and lifecycle management initiatives.
§ Lead the development of the situation analysis of business cases to support new business intelligence solutions as well as solution enhancements.
§ Ensure right level of data is available to support key business objectives in a cost-efficient and value-adding framework.
§ Facilitate report requirements sessions and create meaningful and detailed requirements documentation.
§ Oversee request management and issues management to deliver a reliable, relevant and repeatable service.


§ Participate in cross-functional working groups on company-wide projects.
§ Develop an internal and external network of contacts relevant to share best practices and learn from colleagues in order to optimize on tasks and deliverables.
§ Manage external suppliers and agencies.
§ Lead projects with external suppliers and agencies relevant to Business Intelligence.


§ Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is a preferred.
§ 7+ years of Business Intelligence or Competitive Intelligence, combined with broad experience in analyzing and forecasting in the market.
§ Experience in sales, marketing and managed markets
§ Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into relevant implications for opportunity evaluations and ultimately into actionable recommendations.
§ Understanding of market research evaluation methodologies and techniques.
§ Knowledge of forecasting approaches used to evaluate and validate forecasts assumptions. Organizational skills used to plan, execute and manage multiple business intelligence projects.
§ Ability to get a fast understanding of complicated scientific information and to communicate with internal and external specialists.
§ Capable of developing clear and focused recommendations and conclusions out of market reports and data; experience consolidating results and presenting them to management and colleagues.
§ Ability to work effectively in teams, yet function as a leader.
§ Strategic thinker with long term perspective and business understanding.

§ Project management skills and experience enabling delivery of projects on time and on budget.
