Director of Product Design, NYC - relo available for U.S. based talent


This flourishing e-tailer is a subscription-based e-commerce and content company that delivers monthly packages to their subscribers. Business is booming, so they have decided to add a Director, Product Design for their NYC headquarters. This person be responsible for evolving the product and UX vision of our main product lines. Given this, the ideal candidate will be firmly rooted in product design at the management level, yet also have solid user experience chops. 

Culturally, this company is all about collaboration. The Product team works side-by-side with User Experience, Creative and Technology and they discuss their ideas and options as they work. Everyone is a hands-on contributor vs. 100% management. There is a start-up vibe to their office as well as a laid-back one - it's a fast-paced environment, but one where you can stop and smell the roses. For example, people bring their dogs to work, so it's not uncommon to see your colleagues taking a break to play with their furry friends there.

Daily to do's:
  •  Lead the UX and UI design of our key product lines
  •  Conceptualize, design, and execute product iterations on schedule.
  • Work closely with the development team on planning and execution, from small changes in a flow to creating entirely new products from scratch.
  • Build beautiful, intuitive and empathetic interfaces for users.
  • Contribute to the design culture through thought leadership and collaboration.

Must have's:
  • 5+ years experience in designing technology and web-based products
  • e-commerce experience
  • Portfolio showcasing your product design and user experience skills 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, fluid environment, handling a variety of assignments and technologies
  • Fluency in user centric design, wireframes, prototyping, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign and Sketch
  • Imaginative and fast thinking with the ability to create engaging designs that communicate, inform, and persuade.
  • Able and willing to work in a collaborative environment and adapt to quickly changing priorities.
  • HTML, CSS skills a big plus
